Your travel library belongs to you.

Trove is designed as a local-only travel organizer. It does not require a Trove account and does not upload your trips, documents, checklists, or saved travel details to Trove or a third party.

1. Information stored on your device

Trove stores the information you create or import, including trip details, document titles and metadata, checklist items, reminders, app preferences, and selected document files. This information stays in the app’s private storage on your device. Search queries and fuzzy matching are processed on your device and are not sent to Trove.

2. Documents and local storage

Documents are stored locally. Trove may calculate a file hash to detect identical files and avoid storing duplicate copies. This matching takes place on your device only. Removing a document from a trip removes that trip’s mapping; the file remains available to any other trip that still references it.

Vault is a separate local collection for general documents such as a passport or driving licence. A Vault document may be reused by more than one trip. Editing its details updates linked trip references; removing a trip reference does not remove the Vault source or other references. Deleting a Vault source requires confirmation because it removes the file and its linked trip references.

3. Travel Bucket

Travel Bucket destinations, notes, planning fields, completion state, and any selected icon or image are stored locally. Completing an item moves it from Some day to Been There; creating a trip from it keeps a local link between the destination and trip.

4. Backups

When you choose to create a backup, Trove creates a compressed, password-protected backup file in a location you select. The backup uses AES-256-GCM encryption and the password is not retained by Trove. You control where the file is shared or stored. Restoring a backup replaces the current local Trove data after confirmation.

5. Permissions

Trove asks for access only when you use a related feature:

Declining a permission does not prevent you from using unrelated parts of Trove.

6. Sharing and opening files

When you choose to share or open a document, Trove hands the local file to the app or system service you select. That handoff is initiated by you and is subject to the receiving app’s own privacy practices.

On iOS, sharing a file to Trove uses the system share extension. The file is passed into Trove only after you choose the app and an active trip; ended trips are not offered as destinations.

Links to the Trove website, email, and social profiles open only after you select them. The destination service handles that interaction under its own privacy terms.

7. Trove Plus and Apple services

Trove Plus is an optional, one-time In-App Purchase processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles payment details. Trove receives only the product, transaction, and entitlement status StoreKit provides to complete or restore the purchase; Trove does not receive or store your payment-card information.

Checking, purchasing, or restoring Trove Plus requires a connection to Apple’s services and is governed by Apple’s App Store privacy information. Trove Plus ownership belongs to your Apple Account and is not stored in Trove’s local database or included in a Trove backup.

8. Data collection

Trove does not operate an account system or backend for your travel data. It does not collect, sell, rent, or use your trips, documents, checklists, search queries, or saved details for advertising, analytics, profiling, or cloud synchronization. Trove does not include advertising or analytics SDKs and does not use remote OCR.

9. Clearing data

You can clear local trip data from the Account section of the app. This removes the Trove data and documents managed in the app’s local storage. Backup files you previously saved outside the app remain in the location you chose until you delete them yourself. Clearing local data does not cancel or revoke a Trove Plus purchase associated with your Apple Account.
